Feels like it’s the 70s again. Fleetwood Mac’s classic hit song “Dreams” has entered Billboard’s Hot 100 list once again, after over 40 years, something that would not have been without TikTok star Doggface208.
The resurrection of The Rumours cut and increased interest stems from the viral TikTok video created by Nathan Apodaca, better known as Doggface208, where he can be seen longboarding and having a sip of Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry juice before lip-syncing the first two lines of the Fleetwood Mac song. It turned Apodaca into an internet sensation and even saw Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood recreate the short video.
The song, however, entered the Hot 100 chart at No. 21 and received its best-ever weekly U.S. streams and download sales total on the week ending October 8, acquiring 13.4 million streams (up 54 percent) and 22,000 downloads sold (up 197 percent). “Dreams” now marks the group’s highest Hot 100 entry, even surpassing “Everywhere” which sat at No. 17 in 1988, and is also Fleetwood Mac’s first appearance on the chart’s top 40 since May 1990.
